Pyro Coffee Table by Sylvian Willenz
Pyro is a versatile coffee table defined by its elegant, balanced design and the designer’s signature use of ceramic. The interplay of matte and glossy surfaces enhances its refined expression, resulting in a playful yet graphic piece that seamlessly fits into a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.
"The Pyro Coffee Table is inspired by my deep interest in materials, colours, and textures, as well as my practice in ceramics. For several years, I have integrated ceramics into my design work, and these experimentations have shaped the creation of Pyro for HAY," says the designer.
Characterised by circular symmetry and simplicity, the table reflects the designer’s signature approach – elegant, clean, and carefully proportioned to create a sense of balance.
The richly glazed ceramic top, available in three colours, is complemented by a matte steel base in white or black. This combination results in a versatile, visually striking piece.
About Sylvain Willenz
Sylvain Willenz is a well-travelled designer from Belgium who established his own studio in Brussels in 2004. He is a graduate of the MA Design Products course at the Royal College of Art in London (2003). His design office has won several iF Awards and the Red Dot “Best of the Best” Award in Product Design, he was named Belgian Designer of the Year in 2009 and he regularly works in education for institutions such as ECAL and ENSAV La Cambre. Willenz is a particularly inquisitive designer, immersed in the language of products and industrial process. His work spans various typologies and is often inspired by graphics, drawings and other 2D sources - his desire is to create elegant and clean designs that are both unfamiliar and familiar.
