Inspired by the raw functionality of commercial steel shelving solutions, Standard Issue goes back to basics intent on exposing the beauty in the bare essence of an object. The uncluttered form has been reinterpreted with a sharper silhouette and renewed sense of scale, while retaining its function and strength. Crafted in powder coated steel, this versatile shelving system is designed to be used in both commercial and domestic environments and can be mounted in smaller groups or floor to ceiling constellations.

Standard Issue / Designer

FRANK is the London-based design studio of Pam West (b. 1974 Scotland) and Matt Edmonds (b. 1974 England). The designer duo met while studying product design at Buckinghamshire College and cemented their creative partnership when they opened their studio in 2001. FRANK draws inspiration from heavy industry, infrastructures and the spaces between places and things, with their work characterised by conceptual and theoretical research being perfectly balanced with a rigorous pragmatism. Their simplistic approach to conceptualising projects enables them to work across various fields of design in international companies and institutions. For HAY, FRANK has designed the Standard Issue.
