After graduating in Interior Design from the Institute of Applied Arts in Amsterdam, he worked as a designer from 1948-1963 at De Cirkel, a manufacturer of steel furniture that had merged with the Ahrend group in 1939. He ended up being Art Director of the Ahrend Group from 1971-1983.
